Doel van het spel


Het doel van het spel is om de meeste punten te scoren door woorden te maken op het scrabblebord. Elk woord moet minstens twee letters lang zijn en kan alleen gemaakt worden met je eigen scrabblestenen. Er mogen geen woorden worden gemaakt met eigennamen (namen van mensen, plaatsen, enz.), afkortingen of acroniemen. Bovendien moeten alle woorden in het woordenboek voorkomen om geldig te zijn. Als er ooit onenigheid is over de geldigheid van een woord, raadpleeg dan gewoon het woordenboek!

Het bord opstellen


Voordat het spel kan beginnen, moet het bord worden opgesteld. Dit kan eenvoudig door alle tegels met de afbeelding naar beneden in het midden van de tafel te leggen en ze vervolgens te schudden zodat ze goed door elkaar liggen. Vervolgens trekt elke speler 7 tegels uit de zak en legt ze op zijn eigen tegelrek, zodat alleen hij ze kan zien. De overige tegels worden binnen handbereik in het midden van de tafel gelegd – deze worden de “trekstapel” genoemd Nu kunt u gaan spelen!
De eerste speler begint met het plaatsen van een van zijn stenen op het middelste veld van het bord, dat het “start”-veld wordt genoemd. Het spel gaat dan met de klok mee de tafel rond. Als u aan de beurt bent, moet u een van uw tegels op een leeg veld ergens op het bord leggen; bovendien moet elke tegel minstens één andere tegel raken die al op het bord ligt. Woorden kunnen horizontaal of verticaal worden gelegd – maar niet diagonaal – en elke tegel kan maar één keer per woord worden gebruikt. Bovendien moet elk woord ten minste één letter bevatten uit het stenenrek van elke speler (geen valsspelen met blanco’s!). Als je een tegel op het bord legt, denk er dan aan dat bepaalde vakjes speciale mogelijkheden hebben waarmee je extra punten kunt scoren: Dubbele Letter Score (DLS) vierkanten verdubbelen de puntwaarde van de letter die erop staat Drievoudige Letter Score (TLS) vierkanten verdrievoudigen de puntwaarde van de letter die erop staat Dubbele Woord Score (DWS) vierkanten verdubbelen het totale aantal punten voor dat hele woord Drievoudige Woord Score (TWS) vierkanten verdrievoudigen het totale aantal punten voor dat hele woord Na het plaatsen van je tegel trek je nog een tegel uit de zak om je rek weer aan te vullen tot 7 tegels. Als er geen stenen meer in de zak zitten als je aan de beurt bent, laat je je beurt voorbijgaan en trek je geen nieuwe stenen. Het spel eindigt wanneer een speler geen stenen meer in zijn stapel heeft; op dat moment wordt het spel gestaakt en worden de punten geteld! De speler met de meeste punten wordt uitgeroepen tot winnaar en kampioen Scrabble!
